 Janie Lopez Biography:

Janie E. Lopez, PHR, works for NuStar Energy, LP and is in the staffing and recruiting function for the company.  She consults regularly with professionals from a variety of organizations, levels, and backgrounds, creating synergistic solutions for recruiting and staffing issues, continuously providing feedback and implementing change as-needed to streamline internal processes. She maintains positive relationships with both internal and external customers.  Prior to her current position, Janie was recruited to help with the start-up of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas.  She created, led and oversaw the hiring process of first line supervisors and assisted with the recruitment and hiring of production and skilled team members.  She managed the team at the assessment center in processing applicants for the group leader process and managed the team leader to group leader promotion process. In addition, she coordinated and attended job fairs and maintained positive relationships with both internal and external customers.
Upon graduating with her Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources from UT San Antonio and passing her PHR certification, she began her professional career with Tesoro Petroleum Companies, Inc.  She held various Human Resources roles that included staffing/recruiting, implementing the corporate volunteer program, employee relations, training, new hire orientation, educational assistance program, employee investigations, acting as the company's affirmative action officer, project leader, and was the first point of contact for the corporate office. Janie served as the primary interface with local business operating units for all Human Resources management issues. She participated in the United Way Loaned Executive program and was a member of the Tesoro Corporate Contributions Committee and the Business Volunteer Council (BVC).
Janie has been very involved in San Antonio Human Resources Management Association (SAHRMA) and the San Antonio community for many years.  She is currently the SAHRMA Director of Workforce Readiness.  She brings a wealth of experience to lead this most significant endeavor.  In this role, she is leading the process of developing and implementing a strategy that will best meet our organization's goals. She has served on SAHRMA's Public Relations and Symposium Committees.
Janie is a member of the San Antonio Advisory Board - Diversity Council, San Antonio Regional Relocation Association, and member of the San Antonio Industry Liaison Group (ILG).  Janie has also served on the Board of Child Advocates of the San Antonio Area (CASA) as Fundraising Chair and Policy Committee and was a member of the Job Fair committee for San Antonio Manufacturing Association. Most recently on the mayors initiative P16 Plus Council’s Goal #4: Develop an Expectation of Career and Lifelong Learning for All Citizens this council was formed to align multiple systems, organizations, programs and projects towards a common goal to graduate all children from high school fully prepared to pursue and succeed in post secondary education and/or the workplace that will lead to meaningful and productive careers, Chair of the SA Youth Summit 2009 and 2010, International Women’s Day Planning Committee 2010, San Antonio Colleges and Universities Career Centers Association board, co-founder of R.O.A.R. (Reach Out, Actively Recruit) and co-founder of the Professional Recruiter Network, Member of the Greater Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee, Member of the Greater Chamber of Commerce 2009 Image/Communications Advisory Board, Member of San Antonio Area Foundation-Women & Girls’ Development Fund, Longs Creek Elementary PTA board – ADEPT Chair, recipient of the 2009 Angel “Achievement” Award for philanthropic work with the San Antonio Youth Summit.
